Memorial Day Celebration Cocktails

Flags and poppies in remembrance of soldiers who gave their lives.

Today is Memorial Day. It is a day that we honor the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. It is a day of remembrance and a celebration of the lives that were lost. Because of those soldiers and their many selfless sacrifices, we have been granted freedom and given the privilege to live our lives the way we choose to. Today we make an extra effort to recognize those heroes and to show our gratitude for all they have done for us.

Happy Hour Near Me would like to show our appreciation and dedicate this post to them.

On this day, many of us will visit memorials and the graves of those who bravely fought and died for our freedom. We will leave flowers and American Flags in their honor. Many of us will celebrate those lives as they ring in the beginning of summer with barbecues or picnics. Maybe we will have some festive holiday libations with those we hold dear. Some of us may even belly up to our favorite bar and enjoy a few cocktails, enjoying our freedom and an extra day off work – our favorite bartenders there to assist us in our celebrations.

Whatever your plans for this Memorial Day holiday, we are sure that these tasty red, white and blue cocktail recipes will come in handy. Try making some for your friends and family, whether you’re at home or celebrating somewhere else.

Or… maybe your favorite bartender has the ingredients for these boozy concoctions. Find a bar near you by clicking here to use our interactive geo-locator.

Red Poppy Cocktail

The red poppy is a flower, recognized as a symbol of remembrance to honor the fallen and support the living who have worn our nation’s uniform. This red cocktail was created to to represent that flower, so you can celebrate and remember in a festive way. Go get yourself a blood orange* and try out this tasty red cocktail.

*The end of May also brings the end of blood orange season, which is from January through May. If you can’t find blood oranges, regular will work fine. You can always modify the recipe, but the flavor will be different. Just add a little grenadine for a sweeter drink or some Campari for more of a bitter taste. You could also substitute blood orange puree.

  2. Add the absinthe and triple sec
  3. Fill with ice, shake vigorously and pour unstrained into a tall glass
  4. Top with lemon-lime soda
  5. Enjoy responsibly!
