Let’s Blog about Beer! Big Dog’s Underbite IPA
Big Dog’s Brewing Company
This week’s beer blog is about one of our local favorites, Underbite IPA from Big Dog’s Brewing Company. Big Dog’s opened in June of 1988, when owners and brothers Tom and George Wiesner wanted to create a genuine and warm atmosphere of Wisconsin hospitality. They created a place to serve an extensive menu of amazing food and delicious brews, where people can relax and share good times with friends.
This brewery has over thirty years of history and is a staple in the Northwest Las Vegas Community. Anyone who has driven down North Rancho knows exactly where Big Dog’s is located – a big red barn with a giant sign outside, announcing the fun events to come soon. They are known for hosting multiple beer festivals, where they debut some of their newest and seasonal brews, bringing people from all over town to enjoy music, drinks and great food.
When you walk into the bar area at Big Dog’s, you will immediately notice the brewery visible through glass display windows on the left side of the building. Big Dog’s is always brewing up something tasty and refreshing. With eight beers offered year-round, along with several seasonal, you are sure to find a Brew that’s perfect for you!
This week, we are featuring Big Dog’s Underbite IPA, as well as Dog Pound Pilsner – a summer seasonal beer.
Big Dog’s Underbite IPA
This is one of Big Dog’s more popular beer with people who frequent the Draft House. The color is very light gold and the first thing I noticed when I took my first sip, was the amazing citrus scent. The flavor profile was a strong Hops flavor with Citrus notes. Other aromas I noticed was a light pine. The Chinook hops are the highlight of this IPA, along with several others, including Warrior, Cascade, Centennial, Amarillo, and Citra. This Medium-light body brew is crisp and clean with a dry finish that keeps you coming back for more.
Big Dog’s Underbite IPA is on tap year-round or 12 ounce can.
Dog Pound Pilsner
Offered during the summer months, this light pilsner is a refreshing beer for those hot days! Made with 100% German pilsner malt, German Hersbrucker, and Hallertau hops. Dog Pound coloring is golden yellow, with an aroma that is lightly hoppy with a hint of grapefruit. This brew is lighter and cleaner, with amazing flavor. With Dog Pound Pilsner, Big Dog’s has created a great medium bodied beer with a dry finish. Definitely a beer I would order for my second and third round.
Dog Pound is available for a limited time on tap at Big Dog’s or in a 12-ounce can.
You can also purchase these beers locally or at the Brewery to enjoy at home. You will not be disappointed trying these beers at Big Dog’s Brewery if you are a fan of IPA or Pilsner!
